This Imperial Darktrooper unit was so much larger than the Phase 2 Darktrooper that it dwarfed the droid. Unlike the phase 2, the phase 3 stook to its original programming and hunted down the remaining jedi knights that were hidden across the galaxy. This droid also used a large ion blaster that was so heavy, only the droid itself could carry it. Although this droid had its strengths, one unit was somehow quickly destroyed by the rogue jedi, Kyle Katarn, was able to destroy this unit with his bare hands. This Imperial Battle droid would continue to serve the Empire, even after its destruction a few years after the Battle of Endor.
